The Issue
Preserve the Palace: Demand OU Redesign the Stadium Renovation
To the University of Oklahoma, OU Athletics, President Joseph Harroz Jr., Athletic Director Roger Denny, and the Board of Regents:
We are Sooner faithful.
We support modernizing Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Better access, wider concourses, improved facilities, and a first class home worthy of Oklahoma football.
But the Palace must be strengthened, not stripped.
The current plan risks changing what makes Memorial Stadium sacred: its massive crowds, its deafening roar, and its generations of fans who built its legacy.
The Palace on the Prairie was not forged by luxury boxes.
It was forged by the people.
Students. Families. Alumni. Season ticket holders. Generations of Sooners packed shoulder to shoulder, creating an atmosphere few places in college football can match.
They are the roar.
They are the fortress.
And they should not be cast aside for premium revenue.
We reject a future where Oklahoma football becomes smaller, quieter, and reserved for the few who can afford it.
College football is changing fast.
We will not stand silent while the soul of the Palace is traded away.
We demand OU leadership:
PAUSE irreversible design and seating decisions.
DISCLOSE the full impact including capacity loss, premium expansion, pricing shifts, and effects on longtime season ticket holders.
PROTECT the fans who built this stadium.
PRESERVE as much traditional seating and capacity as possible.
LISTEN to the people who fill the stands.
REDESIGN the project to modernize without sacrificing the roar.
We are not against renovation.
We are for a stronger Palace.
A true Oklahoma renovation makes the stadium louder, not smaller.
It welcomes the next generation instead of pricing them out.
It honors the faithful instead of replacing them.
Because some things cannot be rebuilt once they are lost.
85,000 Sooners in full roar is one of them.
Once seats are gone and voices are displaced, they do not return.
There is still time to choose differently.
We call on every Sooner who believes in the Palace to sign, share, and stand with us.
