Preserve the nursery fence for safety and security

For us at our beloved nursery, the distinctive fence surrounding our building is not just a boundary — it is a testament to our commitment to ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for every child we care for. Our fence serves an essential role in safeguarding our community, providing both a physical barrier and a psychological reassurance to parents and staff that their children can learn and play in a secure space.
In recent months, there has been a movement to remove this fence, threatening to disrupt the sanctity and safety we have painstakingly ensured over the years. This potential change poses significant concerns for the safety of the children in our care. According to the EYFS outdoor play is crucial for a child’s development, but it must be conducted in a secure environment and at least once a session for all children. Our fence acts as that necessary safeguard, allowing safe play and exploration without fear of intruders or nearby road hazards.
Moreover, the removal of such an essential structure would not only jeopardize the security of our children but could also endanger the viability of our nursery as a whole. Parents consistently cite safety as a predominant factor in their choice of early learning settings.
Without this fence, our nursery may face an insurmountable challenge of continuing to serve our community. Our families depend on us for consistent, reliable, and safe educational care, and preserving the integrity of our environment is paramount.
