I am a proud member of the Paintsville community in Johnson County, Kentucky. Our lake is a symbol of our unity and shared history. Recently, there have been proposals to change the name of our beloved Paintsville Lake to honor Loretta Lynn. While we respect her contributions to music and culture, it's important to note that she has not significantly contributed to our local community here in Johnson County. Her efforts and financial investments have primarily been directed towards her home in Tennessee.

Paintsville Lake is more than just a body of water; it's an integral part of our identity as Kentuckians. Changing its name would erase a piece of our history and disconnect us from our roots.
