As a resident deeply connected to our community, I have cherished memories of Bromley Park. This well-loved park is named after the road it's on, just like most parks in our city. It is an integral part of our local identity and holds a special place in the hearts of many residents. Recently, however, there has been a petition to rename this popular park after a family who once resided on Bromley Road but no longer lives here.

This family has not contributed any significant community service that would warrant such an honor. Furthermore, their petition seems to be filled with signatures from people residing outside our city and even outside our province - individuals who may not fully understand or appreciate the significance of Bromley Park to us locals.

Renaming parks should be based on merit and contribution to the community rather than personal interests. It's important that we maintain the integrity and history associated with these public spaces for future generations.
