Interest in WBT’s History Reaches Far Beyond Radio

Maybe this isn't just a bunch of radio geeks after all.
Jack Anthony sent me these numbers from Radio CLT's video updates about WBT, and one of them absolutely exploded—more than 73,000 views, along with over 1,100 likes and nearly 180 comments.
Several of the other WBT videos have received thousands of views as well.
Social media numbers don't tell us what every person watching thinks, and I wouldn't pretend they do. But they do tell us something important: people are paying attention.
I've said from the beginning that WBT's history belongs to more than broadcasters and engineers. It's part of Charlotte's history, North Carolina's history and American broadcasting history.
Seeing this kind of interest in stories about WBT is another reminder that the audience for that history reaches well beyond those of us who call ourselves radio geeks.
Thanks to Jack and Radio CLT for continuing to tell the story—and apparently finding quite a few people who want to hear it.
