Preserve the Historic Traditions of Hart Hall

Preserve the Historic Traditions of Hart Hall
The Issue
For generations, Hart Hall has been more than just a building in Aggieland. Its rambunctiously unique culture rooted deeply in quirky traditions carved out by countless students throughout the years has made it a home away from home for hundreds of us transitioning into adulthood. Our endearing habits of using a humorous Suggestion Box and identifying with our nicknames via a whiteboard located in H-Ramp are not just fun pastimes. They are traditions that foster relationships, fuel creativity, and make Hart Hall the unique and enriching journey it is for all who tread its ramps. However, these beloved artifacts are now being branded as “abandonment of property”.
Today, we face the challenge of preserving Hart Hall's cultural heritage. The suggestion box and h-ramp nickname whiteboard are under threat, despite being community-owned artifacts cherished by students, both current and former. Stripping these traditions away is equivalent to wiping away the essence of what makes Hart Hall special.
We, the proud current and former residents of L. J. Hart Hall, urge the Texas A&M University Department of Residence Life to reconsider this action. We are requesting an exception for these items, a recognition of their role in our community, and respectful preservation of Hart Hall’s traditions.
Please do not allow our cultural wealth to be dismissed as "abandoned property". Sign this petition to preserve the traditions of Hart Hall.
