I am a project coordinator for one of the many companies that have long called the Atlantic Mills in Rhode Island home. This building is more than just a place of work. It represents a rich tapestry of relationships and close community, many of which have found a comfortable dwelling here—our second home. We have put our hearts and souls into this place. Its impending sale threatens not only our morale but our very existence.

The Atlantic Mills, a historical landmark with rich ties to the early founding of our country, is under threat of being sold off and potentially destroyed. It houses numerous enterprises, and its loss would significantly impact the city. Beyond its economic contributions, the mills embody shared communal importance and value—a treasured symbol of our state's history.

The Atlantic Mills' preservation is more significant than a mere battle for real estate. It's about the safeguarding of our collective past, and the potential disruption to an essential piece of Rhode Island's heritage. We don't advocate for a freeze on development. Instead, we call for an inspection of the building due to its historic value before any irreversible decisions can be made.
