Preserve the Greek Story Time Program at Richmond Library

Preserve the Greek Story Time Program at Richmond Library
The issue
I am a resident of the city of Yarra, and a parent to two young children who have greatly benefited from the Greek Story Time program at our local Richmond Library. This free program has not only been an educational resource for my children but also an essential part of our community.
The Greek Story Time program is more than just reading books; it's about preserving and sharing our rich Greek heritage with younger generations. It's about fostering a love for learning and promoting literacy among children in Yarra. Unfortunately, this valuable cultural resource is under threat.
According to data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, over 6% of residents in Yarra were born in Greece or have Greek ancestry (ABS Census 2016). The library's program serves as an important link between these residents and their cultural roots.
We understand that budgetary constraints may be influencing this decision, but we urge you to consider the impact on our community before discontinuing this beloved program. We believe that with enough public support, we can convince decision-makers to keep this vital service running.
Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving cultural diversity and supporting educational programs like the Greek Story Time at Richmond Library. Let us show how much we value such initiatives in our community!
