My children, along with so many other youth in Prince Albert play minor sports in the Dave G. Steuart Arena. It is more than just a building. It is where we build community, encourage healthy active lifestyles, and foster growth in our children through sports. I am deeply concerned about the proposed change to turn it into a temporary homeless shelter.

While helping the homeless is an important cause I wholeheartedly support, I firmly believe this is not the solution. The Dave G. Steuart Arena, which has served the community as a recreational sports facility for decades, should continue in this role. It is one of the central locations for children's activities, where numerous minor sports are held which are crucial for the physical and mental development of our youth.  

Furthermore, the proposed change ignores the already existing problem of the deteriorating condition of the arena. There is a pressing need to repair it, prolong its usefulness and guarantee its continued operation as a sports facility.

Let us ensure the preservation and rehabilitation of the Dave G. Steuart Arena as a cornerstone of our community. Let's keep it operational for the sake of our children, family, friends, and everyone who depends on it for recreational purposes.

Let's prove to the City of Prince Albert's council that we value our recreational facilities, that we have an opinion on the Dave G. Steuart Arena's future use, and that we want our voices heard.
