Preserve the Current Sidewalk Configuration of Boulder Path Road

Preserve the Current Sidewalk Configuration of Boulder Path Road
The Issue
At the age of 45, my mother became a paraplegic after she was hit by a car while walking on the shoulder of a road in the quaint village of my hometown of Amherst, NH. This personal tragedy has made me acutely aware of pedestrian safety issues and has motivated me to fight for safe sidewalks in our town. Today, I am concerned about the proposed changes to Boulder Path Road in Waterville Valley.
The town plans to redo this road in 2025 and intends to merge the sidewalk with the main road into one continuous space. This design is similar to other recently repaved roads around town. However, we believe that keeping sidewalks separate from roads is crucial for pedestrian safety. It's not safe for pedestrians to walk right next to cars or with their backs turned towards oncoming traffic.
Moreover, preserving our current sidewalk configuration will maintain the beauty and charm that makes Boulder Path Road unique within our community.
Please sign this petition if you agree that Boulder Path Road should retain its current sidewalk configuration during its planned renovation in 2025.
