Preserve Single-Family Homes in Norman Farms Community

Preserve Single-Family Homes in Norman Farms Community
The Issue
In the vibrant community of Norman Farms in Hendersonville, TN, many of us chose to make our homes here because of its distinct charm and character. This allure was significantly grounded in the understanding that our community was designed and intended to be exclusively single-family homes. When phases 1 through 3 were developed, we were sold a vision —a tranquil, tightly-knit neighborhood where families can grow, thrive, and support one another.
Recently, there has been a concerning shift in this vision. We believe our community builder is proposing the addition of multi-family or attached buildings to our neighborhood. This proposal threatens to change the fundamental character of our community—a community we built in good faith around the vision of single-family homes. Such developments could lead to increased traffic, strain on existing infrastructure, and alter the atmosphere that attracted us to this neighborhood in the first place.
Preserving the character of Norman Farms is vital not just for maintaining the quality of life that we have grown accustomed to but also for protecting the investments that each homeowner has made. Many families selected Norman Farms with the assurance that it would remain a haven for single-family living—a place where children could safely play, where neighbors know each other by name, and where community events bring us even closer.
Studies have shown that single-family neighborhoods often experience fewer congestive problems and have a better quality of life for families and individuals alike. According to the Urban Institute, areas developed with multiple housing types tend to experience an upsurge in traffic and noise pollution, which affects the community's overall safety and residents' well-being.
We urge city planners, local officials, and our community builders to consider these impacts carefully. Our neighborhood's future depends on thoughtful planning and a commitment to the promises made to its residents. The introduction of multi-family dwellings could significantly alter this balance, bringing unforeseen challenges and altering the foundation of what makes our neighborhood special.
Join us in taking a stand to uphold the original vision for Norman Farms. Requesting the preservation of our single-family home community is more than a plea for the status quo; it is a call to respect the heritage and future of our community. Help keep Norman Farms the serene, family-friendly neighborhood we cherish. Please sign this petition to maintain the integrity of our neighborhood by opposing the introduction of multi-family or attached buildings.
