Rugged Grounds, a vital part of Provo's unique counter culture, is at risk. Developers intend to replace this gathering place with another generic apartment complex. We believe that preserving local culture and architecture is essential to maintaining Provo's unique identity and spirit. The famed Jane Jacobs, urbanist and author, championed the preservation of old buildings as the backbone of vibrant cities in her landmark book, "The Death and Life of Great American Cities". We must not let Provo lose its character to unremarkable and interchangeable development. Save the heart of Provo; let's keep Rugged Grounds standing.
