The Gordon Faber Recreation Complex Must be Redefined to Build a New Hops Stadium. Why?
Dirk Knudsen, reporter for the Hillsboro Herald, started a Change.org petition to stop the City of Hillsboro from "sending in the bulldozers" to start destroying the three Public baseball fields at Gordon Faber Recreation Complex. His two main concerns are, briefly:
- The City of Hillsboro must Complete All Traffic Impact Analyses as required by the Hillsboro, Oregon Municipal Codes before any approvals are granted. The Applicant has not provided this as per Hillsboro Codes; 12.70.200 Transportation Studies.
- A Loss Of Use plan has come in at the last minute and has failed to guarantee if or when the Hillsboro Community will have three replacement fields for fields 4, 5, and 6.

Please read the petition and sign it if you DO NOT want the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex damaged before legitimate estimates can be "rolled" up. They're jumping the gun.

The Gordon Faber Recreation Complex must be redefined to build a new Hops Stadium. Why? Any engineer worth their salt knows that a new Hops stadium requires new definitions for Form, Fit, and Function to renovate it into The Gordon Faber Entertainment Complex.
That means the specifications need to be revised, reviewed, and approved to go forth. Yep, "that's how we do" in legitimate research and development.
As stated in the last update, my big, big, big concerns are the Evacuation Plan, a Traffic Study, an Environmental Impact statement, and a mitigation plan in the event Major League Baseball moves into Portland.

So here's a funny little story:
This week, on Tuesday 8/8, I mustered up my courage to read the recent update of this petition detailing the 26 Short Season, LLC investors at the Public City Council meeting. But, damn, I was a week late. I guess I can call it a practice run? ;-)
So-o-o, this means that I'll attend BOTH the City Council meeting on Tuesday, and the Public Zoning Hearing Board meeting on Wednesday, and read the recent update of this petition detailing the 26 Short Season, LLC investors.

I think it may be illegal for the City of Hillsoro to "give away" a publicly built, owned, and managed structure, maybe? I suppose I need to contact an attorney to figure it out, can't really afford to do that, hope wiser minds prevail, and pull back from the details. I pray the powers to decide take a step back and will look at this from a new perspective.
It's not too late to do the right thing.
