Preserve Powhatan and Block the Data Center Zoning Proposal

The Issue

Powhatan, VA is known for its rich history, rural beauty, and our tight-knit community. The recent proposal to rezone land for a data center at Route 60 and Page Road threatens what we love about living here. Data centers are industrial— they consume vast amounts of energy and water, potentially leading to increased utility costs for homeowners, environmental degradation, and an eyesore right at the County’s entrance from Midlothian.  The proposed complex would be the equivalent of putting 10 Walmarts right at the Powhatan/Chesterfield county line.  If approved, it could also open the floodgates to other data centers in our County.

We must act now to preserve our community's character, its beauty, protect our water, and keep our utility prices from potentially skyrocketing. Please sign and share this petition to urge the Planning Commission to block the data center zoning proposal on July 2. Let’s do what we can to preserve Powhatan and protect the community that we love.
