There was once 2 New Canaanites who saw some disturbing issues surrounding the local development called Merritt Village. They felt their local government was ignoring IMPORTANT issues. This motivated these two citizens and then many many others to call attention to these issues. They proceeded to to do the glorious thing we are able to do in this country.....raise our voices in peaceful protest for a cause that is much greater than us. To call attention both to the Town’s citizens and it’s local government of these issues at hand through a petition that eventually raised over 1,000 New Canaanite signatures.Today our Zoning Chairman has spoken to one of these issues after the pressure raised by concerned citizens. There is still work to be done to preserve our Important Town’s history and solve the many problems this development has raised. The most important one before us now is the the desecration of our Historic Maple Street Cemetary. We will continue to speak out on the Merritt Village issues that ENDANGER OUR HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELFARE.
