Hi Neighbors!
I hope this message finds you well. We want to thank each and every one of you who showed up on May 28th at the Erie Town Hall meeting to stand against the rezoning of the southwest corner of 111th and Arapahoe from Agriculture to High-density Residential. Your presence made a significant impact, and we are proud of the community's dedication and spirit!
Due to our strong turnout and the compelling arguments we presented, the vote has been rescheduled to June 11th at 6:30 PM. The new location is Cavalry Bible Church at 615 Evans Street, to accommodate the high number of concerned neighbors. This change is a direct result of our collective action—well done! There were over 110 neighbors that made it to the meeting! The picture above couldn't fit everyone in the room and outside — it was an awesome show of support.
We must continue this momentum. On June 11th, we need everyone to show up again and make our voices heard. Spread the word and bring along friends and family who share our vision for responsible development in Erie.
We've collected over 80 emails from those who are willing to join our Opposition Team. If you haven't signed up yet but want to stay informed and get involved, please reach out to us at arapahoeand111@gmail.com. Together, we can ensure our neighborhood's future reflects our values, not just those of developers.
Remember, the Town and Developer know we are coming back on June 11th, and we will have the opportunity to speak. Public comment sign-ups start on Monday, June 3 at 10 a.m. You can sign up at Erie Public Comment. Note that comments may be limited to 2 minutes each, so consider teaming up with another speaker to cover all your points. Please sign up to make a public comment.
For those who missed the last meeting, here's a link to the 5/28 meeting recap. The video started late, but there are some great public comments, including insightful remarks from former Mayor Andrew Moore, highlighting the Town's power grab over the public and Town Planning Commission.
The upcoming meeting will not be live-streamed due to the venue change, so please attend in person. You can stay updated by checking the Town Calendar and reviewing the agenda when it is posted on June 7th.
We will need your continued support on June 11th, so please spread the word and attend in person! New Location for June 11th: Cavalry Bible Church 615 Evans Street at 6:30pm.
Should the Town Council approve the rezoning on June 11th, we are prepared to submit a referendum petition. We will need to collect over 1,300 signatures (and likely double that) from Erie voters to challenge the decision and ensure a community vote on this critical issue. These signatures must be collected in person, not electronically. If it comes to this, we will need your support more than ever. Connect with us at arapahoeand111@gmail.com to get involved.
Let's continue to stand together and protect the character and integrity of our neighborhood.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you on June 11th at 6:30pm!
Sincerely,
The Preserve Our Neighborhoods Team
