As residents of Oshkosh Street for over a decade, we, a family and part of this close-knit community, have cherished our outdoor space for our children and pets. We have good friends and neighbors whose well-being we consider as much as our own. The current proposal to move/widen Oshkosh Street threatens to disrupt this harmony by claiming 2-6 feet of yard and driveway space from homes stretching from Washington St to Spring St. 

This plan not only reduces green spaces and takes yard space, but it also escalates our existing concern regarding speeding drivers. It is our belief that widening the street would encourage drivers to speed even more, compromising the safety of our children, our pets, and indeed the whole community. The city's intention to renovate the street and sewer system is understandable, but it must be executed without the detrimental expansion of the roadway.

We urge the city council to reconsider this plan and search for solutions that preserve the character and safety of Oshkosh Street. Cherish our community, respect our yards/driveways as they are now, and ensure the safety of all. Join us in petitioning the city to keep Oshkosh Street as it is!
