Many of us supporting preservation of Mandarin Road have experienced repeated reporting, personal attacks, and false accusations online simply for expressing concerns about the sidewalk expansion project.

Disagreement is part of community discussion. Smearing neighbors, labeling residents with outrageous accusations, and trying to silence opposing views is not.

Thousands of residents have signed the petition because they care about Mandarin’s trees, history, canopy, wildlife, and character. That does not make anyone extremists. It makes them engaged citizens.

Unfortunately, some people appear more focused on spending hours attacking neighbors online than having respectful public discussion about the actual project itself.

Nextdoor should take a closer look at repetitive mass reporting, selective moderation, and biased reviewer systems that can be used to suppress legitimate community viewpoints. Residents on all sides deserve fair treatment and respectful dialogue.
