Petition Update: JTA Still Withholding Key Records About Sidewalk Project Grant

Dear supporters,

As of today, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) has not responded to our latest public records request regarding the federal grant used to fund the Mandarin Road sidewalk project.

We specifically requested documentation related to Grant FL-2023-021-00, which provided federal funds for this controversial initiative. Despite being required by law to produce these documents, JTA has not released any of the materials that would show how they justified skipping both environmental and historical impact studies.

In their grant application, JTA claimed a Categorical Exclusion (CE) from full environmental review, stating the project posed “no significant impact.” They also made vague references to safety, pollution reduction, and access for vulnerable communities — yet provided no data or studies to support those claims.

This lack of transparency only deepens our concern. Mandarin Road is a protected scenic corridor under Jacksonville Ordinance 2001-1009-E, and any federally funded construction project must take environmental and historical preservation seriously.

We are continuing to press for full disclosure. Thank you for standing with us — your support is
