Hello everyone,
We have some monumental news to share. Because of your incredible support and sharp eyes, we have just forced a massive admission from the very top of the City of Doncaster Council!
On the previous screening application (Ref: 26/00668/SCRE), the planning officer originally ruled that the developer did not need a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), claiming that the woods bordering the site weren't Ancient Woodland.
We proved them completely wrong. 🛑
We went directly to the government’s official DEFRA MAGIC maps and discovered that Gelster Wood is absolutely designated as protected Ancient Woodland. We took this straight to the Head of Planning, Roy Sykes. He was forced to admit the Council’s error in writing and has officially warned the developer that this irreplaceable habitat must be respected.
The Present Battle: Ref 26/01028/SCRE ⏳
Because we stripped away their fast-track ticket, the developer (Albemarle) has been forced to submit a brand new screening application: Ref: 26/01028/SCRE (as seen in the portal progress tracker in 1000044830.jpg).
The Head of Planning has promised us that the Council will now completely re-evaluate whether a full Environmental Impact Assessment is required. This is our ultimate window of opportunity.
Today, Friday 12th June 2026, is the absolute final day of the consultation period. We need every single person who signed this petition to make a formal comment on the planning portal before midnight tonight!
📥 2-Minute Action Plan:
Go to the Doncaster Planning Portal and search for the new reference: 26/01028/SCRE.
Click "Make a Public Comment" and demand a Positive Screening (Full EIA Required).
State that because the Council now acknowledges Gelster Wood is Ancient Woodland, a full EIA is legally necessary to protect the area's complex hydrology and wildlife corridors from 120 houses.
Remind them that this site is strictly designated as Countryside in our voter-approved Rossington Neighbourhood Plan.
We have shown them the power of a united community. Let's finish what we started and flood the portal before the clock strikes midnight!
Thank you for standing with Rossington,
