Leadbetter Beach Friends & Visitors, 

City of Santa Barbara is advancing plans to renovate the Leadbetter Beach shower and restroom facilities.

We 100% support the ADA upgrades to bathroom stalls.

We oppose the demolition of the (2) wind walls with (6) showers and (2) foot faucets, the central seating beneath the palm tree and the walled outdoor changing areas adjacent to each gendered restroom.

We urge the City to incorporate and ensure these important and valuable elements in the renovation. 

We also oppose the proposed location of a mixed use pathway between the restroom facility and the beach.

This is a beloved public gathering place used daily by hundreds of diverse community members for recreation, conversation and community-building. 

Numerous solutions have been submitted by community members to address the City's noted public safety concerns including (additional) gates, anti-climbing barriers, and security patrol.
