I want to sincerely thank all of you for your support in this endeavor. Our signature list continues to grow! Let's keep it going. These numbers matter, even in the wake of the decision from Tuesday.
As many of you know, the decision did NOT go in our favor on Tuesday night. After listening to our well stated facts and opinions, they voted unanimously in favor. Many of us believe that they had decided the vote long before we ever walked through the door.
It was a long night and many of you attended the meeting. THANK YOU for your support, even if you just came and listened. It meant a lot. A special thank you to all who spoke. I heard great love for our community. It is a big part of why this is such a special place.
Many if not all of us were appalled at the way the council conducted themselves during deliberations. Several members took it upon themselves to lecture us. They did not mince words regarding their contempt, calling us elitists and there was reference to "-ism"....just short of actually calling all of us racists. It was something I didn't think I would ever hear from elected officials.
If you were not able to attend, I urge you to visit the city's website and skip forward close to the end to watch for yourself. I personally plan on sending emails to the council members that showed this contempt as well as look into filing a formal complaint.
I am sure many of you are wondering, where do we go from here? We have avenues! A case similar to this one was fought and WON in Plano. We are currently pursuing the attorney who took that case. We'll keep you updated.
In the meantime, if you are an attorney or you know of one that has had experience with zoning cases, we urge you to contact us. We want the ability to interview different attorneys and choose the one that will afford us the best chance. You can send any information to preservelakeridge@gmail.com
