Preserve Human Creativity: Separate AI From Human Artist Awards
The Issue
As artificial intelligence continues to enter the world of music and media, we’re facing an alarming reality: AI-generated songs are now being considered for the same awards meant to honor human creativity.
The Grammy Awards — and all legacy institutions that uplift art — were created to celebrate the soul, story, and spirit of the artist. But an algorithm cannot feel heartbreak. It cannot channel grief into lyrics. It cannot be an artist. Imitation may be a form of flattery, but depriving art — created with real effort and human emotion — of the opportunity to get the recognition it deserves, is not charming or flattering or even remotely okay.
At UUVERSE, we stand ‘for the preservation of human creativity’.
Artists are HUMANS, not programs. We are not against technology — we are against the erasure of the human spirit, story and creativity behind the art. It’s offensive.
We demand that:
•The Recording Academy and similar institutions create a separate category for AI-generated or AI-assisted content.
•Human-only categories (such as Best New Artist, Record of the Year, etc.) remain strictly for human creators.
•Any music released, posted or distributed must have a clear AI label regardless of the percentage of AI used in the song (similar to how some songs are labeled ‘E’ for explicit or contain parental advisory warnings on the cover image).
It’s not about fear — it’s about respecting the essence of art, and the people who give their lives to it.
If you’re an artist, fan, creative, or supporter of human expression — join us. Sign now and help protect the future of art.
