It is a soulful experience to watch a mother grizzly nurturing her cubs in the wild, and their peaceful existence must not be jeopardized.

Grizzly bears, part of Alberta's ecosystem, play a significant role in maintaining its balance and overall health. However, they are constantly under human threat. Decisions to exterminate them—whether for sport hunting or rash judgements—are not just barbaric but also detrimental to the environment. An estimated 1150 grizzly bears in Alberta face this grim future every day.

Unnecessary killings can be prevented by controlling the bears' access to populated areas. One practical method is the use of electric fences, commonly used in wildlife conservation. Such methods are sustainable alternatives to hunting, ensuring the safety of both bears and humans.

The money spent on ending bear lives could and should be used to conserve them instead. If the Alberta government diverts efforts aimed at killing grizzlies toward their preservation, there's a promising path in ensuring a future where grizzlies and humans live in harmony.

It is high time we spoke up for those who can't speak for themselves. Let's urge the Alberta government to protect our iconic grizzly bears from being hunted. Their preservation guarantees the continuity of not only their species but also our ecological heritage.
