As a concerned parent of a child currently attending Gould Elementary School, I am deeply troubled by the district’s decision to change the original plans for our school of merging our beloved elementary school with the new K-12 institution. The new plan proposed would disrupt our children's education and community ties. This move would force many students to be bused or zoned to schools that are out of their original zones, causing unnecessary stress and inconvenience for families.

Gould Elementary has long been an integral part of Savannah, GA community. It has provided quality education for countless children over the years and fostered a strong sense of community among parents, teachers, staff members and students alike. We believe that maintaining Gould as its own entity is crucial for preserving this sense of unity and continuity in our children's education.

The initial proposal was to move Gould Elementary School into the new K-12 school as originally planned - a plan that received widespread support from all stakeholders involved. We urge the Chatham County Board of Education to honor this commitment made to us.

We understand that change can be necessary at times but it should not come at the expense of disrupting students' lives or disregarding parental concerns. Our voices matter in shaping our children's future.
