The Issue

My family has experienced firsthand the profound impact that Save the Michael’s has on individuals battling addiction and families coping with loss. When our son Kevin was on his recovery journey, this incredible organization stood by him, thanks to the unwavering support of Avi Israel. Kevin found purpose and hope while working on the transportation team, encouraged to take his recovery one day at a time.

Tragically, after Kevin's passing, Save the Michael’s was there for us once again. Their grief support programs offered us immense compassion, helping us navigate through our deepest sorrow. This lifeline was invaluable, and I shudder to think what our journey might have been like without their support.

Today, Save the Michael’s is at risk. Funding cuts threaten to close the doors of this essential organization, leaving countless families in the Western New York area without vital recovery and grief resources. Over the past 15 years, Save the Michael’s has saved countless lives by providing free drug education and intervention services as well as comprehensive grief support that has been a beacon of hope for many.

This is not just about my story, but about preserving a safety net that countless others depend on. State and county leaders have the power to ensure that these life-saving services continue to be available. We are calling on them to collaborate with Save the Michael’s to secure necessary funding and explore alternate financial avenues to sustain these essential programs.

With your signature on this petition, we can send a strong message to our leaders that the community values and needs the support that Save the Michael’s provides. Help us preserve a future where families have access to hope and healing. Please sign this petition and join us in this critical effort to protect Save the Michael’s from closure. Together, we can make a difference in keeping these vital services alive for those in need.
