Joel Garcia is a beloved local artist who has immensely contributed to the Corpus Christi community. In 1999 and 2001, he created and gifted beautiful mosaics to the old Carroll High School. However, the Corpus Christi ISD school board has recently decided to demolish the old school building, a decision that puts the fate of my grandfather's art in jeopardy. 

There is more than just brick and mortar at stake, there is a piece of the community's soul, enmeshed in those vibrant tiles, that speaks to the history and artistry of our city. We cannot stand by as works of art are tragically bulldozed into nothing.

Therefore, this appeal presents a call to preserve these treasured works by finding an alternative solution to demolition. We urge the school board and other city officials to explore the possibility of relocating these mosaics to the new Carroll High or another local space where they can continue to be admired and inspire future generations.
