Preserve Brickell's Well of Ancient Mysteries (home, native historical site & art gallery)

The Issue

Fellow humans:

The Well of Ancient Mysteries in Miami, FL, a natural, spiritual, and natively historical sanctuary, is being taken over at this moment!

The quaint house/art gallery, saturated with native Miami history, plants, animals, and ancient fossils, in the midst of the sky-scraping concrete jungle, is located at 87 SW 11th Street (Brickell)!

It is one of the last ecologically diverse areas in Brickell and has undeniable historic site qualities. A multitude of information should be studied & learned of this place kept indigenous and natural in the middle of the bustling city all these years! The problem is that money is driving the train faster than the bureaucratic system will allow us to obtain such historic preservation.

We need community support!! For history, for the environment, for art, and most importantly, for the benefit of the community. Miami, FL the bustling area of Brickell, needs a serene, uplifting, and natural community sanctuary to learn and benefit from in a hands-on and natural way. Please sign the petition to show your support for this cause and share this petition!

If nothing is done, the years of blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into keeping this site from gentrification will be renounced. For what? Another at least 50 million dollar project for another skyscraper to add to the extensive Miami eyesore of a jungle... Unnecessary. What is necessary: to preserve the site for current and future generations to experience and walk away from feeling nourished from the mind & soul with inspirational music, art, native history, and other education about the city of Miami.

Wow, is that a story to tell... just ask Ishmael.

Ishmael Burmudez, pictured above, has lived here his entire life, has maintained the house from hurricanes & other occurrences with his own two hands, and has excavated this land tirelessly to reveal fossils, artifacts, an ancient natural well, and an altar in the form of a mystifyingly large tree stump under the house (used for many indigenous rituals and ceremonies throughout history & recently), and more.

If we do nothing, the front steps where he watched the city be built around him will be destroyed, and the local community will no longer have the inspiring, loving, and creatively nourishing experiences that only this sanctuary offers (right in the middle of the city)!

Don't let this happen! In a time where environmental action is necessary, make your choice to be a part of the solution with 15 seconds of your time!
