Save Highland Park: History and Homes—Preservation not Demolition

The Issue

Highland Park is a neighborhood unlike many others across the United States. Whether born and raised in our community or having found it to be home later in life, our streets, lined with historically architectural houses, have come to be a face representing the beauty and history of our community. In recent years, the works of defining architects (i.e. Hal Thompson) for our town have been destroyed and replaced, often with thoughtless design. Of course, each year brings with it new fashions of design and architecture. Yet our community must not leave behind the uniqueness and beauty historically present that is so sought after.

Preservation of historically significant homes in Highland Park has become an unserious endeavor, both because of community failures and the institution charged with that mission—Preservation Park Cities. Change is due, but we must protect and save these homes now for our sake and future generations.

Add your name below to show support for the preservation of the beautiful homes in our community, many of which have become landmarks for residents, before it is too late. As awareness is raised for this issue, our hope is that the demolition of 3800 Beverly Drive and other houses with a similar fate might be rethought. Highland Park isHighland Park and it must stay that way—without fading away into something unrecognizable.
