SAVE THE BOSLEY MANSION

SAVE THE BOSLEY MANSION
The Issue
A Brief History of the Bosley Mansion, Towson, Maryland
Dr. Grafton M. Bosley moved to Towson in 1848. Here, he formed a medical partnership with his uncle, Josiah Marsh. Dr. Marsh was the owner of a 130-acre estate, which Dr. Grafton Bosley inherited in 1850 upon the death of his uncle. This large tract of land included what is now West Towson. Dr. Bosley decided to build a home of his own, and selected a site in what is now Southland Hills. There he built the Bosley Mansion in the middle of a twenty-five acre park, and it was his place of residence until just before his death in 1901. He called it “The Uplands.”
