Free Menstrual Products at Camosun College

Free Menstrual Products at Camosun College
The Issue
We, the undersigned Camosun College students, no longer wish to pay for menstrual products at both Lansdowne and Interurban campuses. Research conducted by Plan International Canada Inc. showed that in 2019, 34% of menstruators in Canada had to make budgetary sacrifices often or occasionally in order to afford menstrual products. A further 63% of menstruators had to miss an activity regularly or occasionally because they were menstruating and had concerns about not being able to access menstrual products. Therefore, we call on the Director of Student Affairs, Evan Hilchey, and the Director of Learning Services, Sibyl Harrison to adopt a free menstrual product system at Camosun College to help end period poverty for students.
