Prepare Our Kids For Life - Not Just Exams

Prepare Our Kids For Life - Not Just Exams
The Issue
Billions of Your Taxes Spent on Crisis, Why Not Prevention?
Too many children are leaving school unprepared for the real world. They know their exams but not how to stay safe online, protect their mental health, handle toxic relationships, or make positive choices in a world that can be complex and dangerous.
Schools want to help but they can’t do it alone. They need the support, time, funding, and training to teach vital life skills alongside traditional academics.
Why Are We Still Arguing About This?
Lessons4Life is calling on the Department for Education and the UK Government to finally wake up and do what’s right: give schools the support they need to teach life skills that actually prepare children for the world we live in.
This isn’t some fluffy, optional extra.
This isn’t about replacing maths and English.
This is about teaching children how to stay safe, make smart decisions, protect their mental health, spot red flags, handle peer pressure, build real resilience and grow up to become adults who can cope, contribute, and care.
We are going to number 10 in July! But we need more support from the British public to be heard!
We need more signatures to show that this isn’t a niche concern. It’s a national priority.
Why Your Signature Matters
Not every child gets this support at home and that’s not the child’s fault.
We can’t keep crossing our fingers and hoping families have the tools to deal with things like online grooming, anxiety, addiction, self-harm, toxic relationships or digital dangers.
And yes, we know the primary responsibility sits at home. Of course it does. But let’s be honest the world our children are growing up in is not the same world many of us were raised in. Many parents simply don’t have the knowledge, experience, or time to guide their children through challenges they never faced themselves.
That’s why schools have to step up and be supported to do so. Our children need more. They need backup.
But right now? Many schools are trying and struggling. Many don’t have the time, funding, or proper training to make life skills a priority. They need backing. And they need it now.
So What Are We Asking For?
We’re asking for common sense:
A curriculum that includes structured, age-appropriate life skills
Simple tools to spot where kids are struggling
The time, training, and funding for schools to do this well
That’s it. No gimmicks. No big demands. Just the bare minimum needed to stop preventable problems spiralling later in life.
This Affects Everyone Including You
If we don’t fix this now, the issues we’re dealing with today only get worse tomorrow.
We’ll keep pouring money into mental health services, youth crime initiatives, family courts, and crisis care all while ignoring the fact that we could’ve helped earlier.
Want stronger communities? Better relationships? Lower crime?
It starts in the classroom and it starts with life skills.
30 Seconds. Real Change.

Every child deserves the tools to thrive.
