Premier Redford, Minister Fred Horne, MLA's Don Scott & Mike Allen: Put the Fort McMurray long-term care centre downtown - NOT Parsons Creek

The Issue

We believe in Aging with Dignity in Wood Buffalo.  We believe that it is important to keep couples together and close to the social network and community of friends that they've spent a lifetime nurturing and value so highly.

Currently that is not possible since the only long-term care facility is on the 4th Floor of the hospital and the provincial plan is to relocate those beds to Parsons Creek - a site 20 km north of the hospital - a site far from town, with no infrastructure and destined to be a construction zone for years to come.

The Seniors want to be downtown - to participate in the community that they've worked so hard to build - not warehoused in the bush.  The Seniors want the Province to build their long-term care centre downtown.

We hope you can support our Seniors by signing the petition below.

Thank you

Petition to: Premier Alison Redford, Minister of Health Fred Horne, MLA Don Scott, MLA Mike Allen

We, the undersigned residents of Alberta, petition the Legislative Assembly to urge the Government of Alberta to not move forward with their plan to build a seniors' long-term care facility in Parsons Creek, Fort McMurray but to consider instead building such a facility immediately in downtown Fort McMurray near the hospital on land currently owned or controlled by the Province.
