Ford is Failing Our Children: Opening Schools Now! Everyday Counts!!
Dear Premier

I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in how you continue to ignore medical professionals and keep our children from attending school in-person. As a parent and voter, I am appalled at how you have neglected to stand up for our children during this pandemic. Do you realize the long -term damage you have inflicted on our children by keeping schools closed for the better part of a year and a half? Suicide and child abuse rates have skyrocketed. For many children, school is their only safe space and refuge away from abuse in their homes. Many children rely on programs at school for their daily food. Children with special needs have been completely neglected. For the last week, you have left parents, medical professionals and educators in a state of limbo and confusion. Your plan to come to consensus made absolutely no sense. You received nearly universal consensus from medical professionals to open schools, and then for reasons unknown to anyone, you chose to extend this stressful time for us. You have made a huge mistake not following professional medical advice weeks ago and neglecting to open schools. Please stop failing us and our kids as our premier and open schools immediately. You are clearly putting your own political agenda first now and, by not opening schools, you are going to lose many future votes that will cost you your re-election. Every day counts for in-person learning and schools should be open now. Show us that kids matter as much as your hockey festivities last night.
