Just a note to update in regards to the minimum wage.
It now sits at $15.50/hr. If you work your 40hrs a week, that is roughly $620/wk gross. Monthly it works out to $2480 less taxes so you are left with about $2000 to live on.
Again, not enough for rent. Not enough for basic meals. Not enough for utilities.
Being forced into an arrear situation harms your credit. Then you get overlooked for units as a result of that. I bring this up because the Government will only offer you assistance if you are in arrears. You shouldn’t be forced to fall to into that level. Especially! when you are putting in your time at work just like anyone else does. It wasn’t our choice as a renter that led us to this. It was the Government‘s choice to let us fall by lack of regulation.
