Premier: Don't make them go extinct

Premier: Don't make them go extinct
The issue
Australia has already seen too much of our unique wildlife disappear forever. Now, Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoo, a bird synonymous with the South West, could be next.
Populations of this Endangered bird are declining at an alarming rate. In the last 6 years alone, their numbers around Perth have more than halved. For the first time in history, we are facing the prospect of the population in Perth going extinct.
A bird that once used to fill Perth’s skies, gone forever.
The trees most important for Carnaby’s survival are being chopped down. Now, the State Government’s draft ‘Green Growth Plan’ proposes to clear even more at an even faster rate. If approved, this will have a disastrous impact on the Carnaby’s population in Perth, already facing extreme food shortages. These birds will likely starve.
Without immediate action, our window of opportunity to save Perth’s Carnaby’s will close. But there’s still time to act. We must tell Premier Barnett to halt the clearing of crucial food trees—and stop it now.
