I am writing to ask you to PLEASE WRITE TO THE DEFENCE MINISTER: The HMAS Darwin was decommissioned last week. According to news reports, the future of the HMAS Darwin is yet to be decided - it will either be sold for parts to another nation or be made available as a dive wreck. Clearly we all want the HMAS Darwin to be our Sydney Dive Wreck. So to ensure the Defence Minister , (Senator Marise Payne) understands this, can you please write to her today and let her know. It's best if you use your own words, but here are some suggestions for inclusion in your letter..... "Dear Minister , can you please ensure that the HMAS Darwin is made available as a dive wreck. A Sydney Dive Wreck will be a great benefit to NSW , not only will this provide a recreational opportunity for SCUBA divers in NSW , it will be positive for the environment by increasing the overall biomass in the area and will provide research and educational opportunities for the region. In addition, a Sydney Dive Wreck will provide a significant return to the NSW economy, particularly through the tourism income from international and interstate visitors diving on the wreck.
