Fathers should be allowed to stay with the mother before and after the birth. They are an essential part of the process to ensure a healthy birth experience for both parents and the newborn child. PPD is already a problem for many and the directives preventing the mother from having the support of her partner is not only cruel, but void and ridiculous seeing that people are still being allowed to meet up and party even though these families have been isolating for weeks to prepare for the birth.

Plus, this situation will only put more pressure on midwives and nurses who are already stretched thin as it is.

Is this the Malta that so proudly states it is one of the leaders of equal rights? Where are the equal rights for parents?
