The Issue

Dear Minister of HRD.

With respect to the new proposed education policy 2016 (http://mhrd.gov.in/nep-new minorities are having the below concerns. With the proposal of new education policy 2016 the doubts that were there with the minorities have become true. If this policy is implemented in the current state than it will be causing more harm than good. This harm will not be limited to minorities but will also impact the democratic and constitutional principles of our society. It is worth a mention about the reports submitted by Sachhar commission and Ranganath commission detailing how the minorities are being discriminated. It is a sad decision not to incorporate their suggestions in the proposed policy. Through the proposed policy Indian history will be changed on the basis of fictional stories and Indian secular culture is being transformed on the basis of Hindu legends. Aside to this Sanskrit, Veds and Gurukul civilization is also being forced on the citizens, which is not acceptable to minorities especially Muslims.

Forceful implementation of the proposed education policy 2016 will not be a good idea in a democratic nation like India having multiple religions, culture and societies. This will further seclude the minorities from the mainstream which is in no way good for the country.

In addition to this it is necessary to exclude government / non-government aided minority educational institutions from RTI 2009 section 12 (1) (C). This has already been ruled by the honorable Supreme Court of the country, so that minorities get full opportunity to keep their identity and civilization intact. It is worth mentioning that the same right has also been given in the constitution of India.

I would humbly request the minister that the proposed education policy should be reconsidered and amended keeping the above mentioned concerns in mind and the policy drafted again. This will result in "Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas" a slogan given by honorable PM of this country.
