Ban the advertisements and the production of fairness creams/skin whitening products

The Issue

Skin Lightening Is a dangerous obsession, especially in India. Although the British ruled India years ago, their ideologies still prevail today.

Indian celebrities constantly promote fairness products, but pledge against racism. Several textbooks even have a picture of a fair-skinned girl is labelled “beautiful” and a darker one labelled “ugly”. Colourism is a major problem in India today

Darker kids in India are more prone to bullying, and are often inclined to seek fairness creams as a solution, instead of embracing their own skin tone. This continuous cycle led this industry to grow into a multibillion dollar empire, that encompasses invasive procedures like CHEMICAL PEELS, LASER TREATMENTS, SKIN BLEACHING, and more.

With banning the promotion of fairness products, we can try to put this to an end. India can finally move closer towards being more inclusive, and loving every shade of brown.
