**might seem long but most is just letter templates so please have a read, thanks**

Bank Farm in Aberhafesp has put forward a planning application for an indoor pig rearing barn for 1,000 pigs, this was published in the county times along with a picturesque image of happy piglets in straw with plenty of space, but when reading the planning application we learnt that these pigs will actually have less than 1 square metre each!

Pigs are complex and intelligent creatures who do not do well in confined conditions and are known to fight and cannibalise one another from stress - these pigs will not even be given access to the outdoors.

Alongside the ethical issue there is also the problem of the smell created by the farm, which is very close to the homes of local people. Not only would this be extremely unpleasant for residents but can also decrease the desire for and therefore the value of houses in the area. Increased traffic, due to the amount of lorry transport required to run such an operation also leaves local people concerned about safety on what were previously quiet country lanes.

Whatever your reasons for opposing the building of this farm, please sign the petition here to ask local council to say “NO” to the plans for the new pig farm!
