It has been revealed that Powys County Council are planning to close the current Welshpool Library and move it in to the Powysland Museum.

This would result in a downgrading of services offered by both the library and the museum.

There have been no consultations with local residents or users of the library or museum.

Here is some excellent information on why we should all care about our local library - http://www.voicesforthelibrary.org.uk/the-story-so-far/reasons-for-public-libraries/

We are objecting to the relocation and/or downsizing of Welshpool Library, which is a valuable community hub as well as a resource for the lending of books.

We request that the council consider the long term impact of cutting library services, and commit to supporting Welshpool Library and its users. Keep Welshpool Library as it is.
