Petition updatePoultry Companies: Give workers essential benefits and safe conditions during COVID19CALL TO ACTION: Rogers Chicken Plant has POSITIVE COVID-19 cases
Venceremos
May 22, 2020

Venceremos and community members are protesting outside of Rogers George's Inc. plant to demand protections for workers against COVID-19 after SEVENTEEN positive cases of coronavirus have been reported by the Department of Health. Due to fear of getting sick without protections or benefits, workers are refusing to come to work and George's Inc is threatening to give them disciplinary points and penalize them for not working under illness-inducing conditions.

Venceremos is demanding that George's Inc provide protections for workers and to stop punishing them for protesting their conditions and the risk of getting sick.

THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION:

-Email Carl George, George's Inc Co-CEO (Carl.George@georgesinc.com) and Charles George, George's Inc Co-CEO (Charles.George@georgesinc.com)

Sample Text:

"Dear Mr. Carl and Charles George,

I recently learned that there are multiple positive cases of COVID-19 at the George's plan in Rogers, AR. Workers are being exposed to getting sick because the company is threatening workers with disciplinary points if they refuse to work. George's must inform all workers about the positive cases and provide testing to workers to prevent the spread. Affected areas must be closed for deep cleaning and bring workers back to work once it's safe. At a time when food companies are working overtime to keep up with demand, it is unacceptable and irresponsible for George's co force its employees to choose between their pay and the health of their co-workers. For the safety of your employees and the communities in which they operate, you must do your part to stop the spread of COVID-19. Please start providing paid sick leave to all employees as well as paid leave for employees who must quarantine themselves because they have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. We must act now to stop this disease and protect our communities. Thank you again."
