Thank you for joining Venceremos in calling on chicken producers to provide paid leave benefits for workers. While other producers have begun offering some paid sick leave, Tyson Foods, George’s Co, Simmons Foods, Ozark Mountain Poultry, and Cargill have refused to change their policies. Help us get the message out to these companies by tweeting at Tyson to show your support. They need to hear that what they’re doing isn’t enough to keep workers safe.

Tweet 1: @TysonFoods, your workers can’t afford to take unpaid time off if they get sick. You must provide all workers with paid sick leave, whether they’re infected or quarantined, to keep them safe and to protect our food supply.
Tweet 2: @TysonFoods so many of your workers are required to work shoulder to shoulder with each other and don’t have the option of social distancing. If one person gets sick and continues to come to work, it puts everyone in danger. Please guarantee paid sick leave for your employees.

I recently learned that Tyson plant workers don’t receive any paid sick leave. At a time when food companies are working overtime to keep up with demand, it is unacceptable and irresponsible for Tyson to force its employees to choose between their pay and the health of their coworkers. For the safety of your employees and the communities in which you operate, you must do your part to stop the spread of COVID 19. Please start providing paid sick leave to all employees as well as paid leave for employees who must quarantine themselves because they have been exposed to someone with COVID 19.
We must act now to stop this disease and protect our country.
