I have watched the President address the nation in an attempt to keep the public informed about the many issues regarding COVID-19.  There have been many mentions about the industries and people affected. I heard several times about major industries losing incredible amounts of money and that "it is not their fault". Thus, there will be billions of dollars available to assist them during and after this evolving economic disaster.

As we all know, healthcare is facing unprecedented challenges. Many are hearing talk of mandatory work and overtime. Many healthcare workers have chronic conditions that put them at higher risk or live with people that do. Early in the game we have 2 emergency physicians in critical care from COVID-19. Additionally, nationwide we are experiencing shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE). No one signed up to work in healthcare thinking they wouldn't have access to proper PPE in a pandemic!

I ask that those in charge of our great Nation please consider legislation for those of us who will be putting ourselves at risk in order for the good of ALL Americans. Consider hazard pay, free healthcare for those of us that become infected while working, and consider life insurance to those who battle this on the front lines.

In addition, during this time of crisis, it is imperative to remove the fear of lawsuits to allow healthcare workers to put patients first without being tied down to computers and obligating to unnecessary testing and procedures.
