When pan decided to have in-person recruitment for philanthropy, video day, and preference day, they did so knowing there might be a chance a few girls would catch covid. You can’t be oblivious and say your having in-person recruitment and that there’s going to be absolutely 0 cases. The girl’s going through recruitment, the recruiters, the rho gams, and each sorority has spent hundreds of dollars buying things preparing for recruitment. I believe the majority of everyone on Greek row and the new in-coming girls, want recruitment to stay in-person because of all the money and time they’ve spent getting ready for it, just for it to be taken away by one case. I don’t know how many girls have covid currently, but I don’t think cancelling it because of a couple girls is fair for everyone else. The girls who want to stay and continue in person recruitment should. If they need to the girls who don’t want to can join on zoom. We all participated in recruitment knowing that there may be a slim chance we might catch covid. How long is it going to be until things are back to normal, you can cancel every event because one girl has covid. They’re not going to cancel every football game because one fan has covid or cancel school, you can’t keep shutting down life for something that’s not going away anytime soon and that only really affects a select few. There are other ways to go about proceeding with recruitment other than just shutting it down completely. Exec and so many other people have put in too much time for that to happen. If you still want recruitment to be in person sign this petition, I’m just curious to see how many out of everyone in Greek life still want to keep it in person. Who knows, maybe we will get it back, worth a try:)
