ما، امضاکنندگان این نامه، از خانم نادیا النشیف معاون کمیساریای عالی حقوق بشر سازمان ملل می‌خواهیم تا سفر خود به ایران را که برای تاریخ ۱۴ بهمن ۱۴۰۲ (۳ فوریه ۲۰۲۴) برنامه‌ریزی شده، تا انتشار اولین گزارش کمیته حقیقت‌یاب به تعویق بیاندازد. 

ما بر این باوریم که انجام این سفر تا پیش از انتشار اولین گزارش کمیته حقیقت‌یاب سازمان ملل درباره جنایات جمهوری اسلامی در جریان جنبش «زن، زندگی، آزادی»  می‌تواند موقعیت و اهداف ماموریت کمیته حقیقت‌یاب را به خطر بیندازد. 
انجام این سفر در تاریخ مقرر، با وجود اعدام ۶ جوان ایرانی دیگر در طول همین روزها که جمهوری اسلامی ایران آماده میزبانی از آن مقام سازمان ملل می‌شود، ضربه‌ای جبران‌ناپذیری به جنبش مدنی و فراگیر ایرانیان وارد می‌کند و باعث ناامیدی فعالان محبوس و خانواده‌های دادخواهی می‌شود که دهه‌هاست زیر سرکوب حاکمیت تلاش می‌کنند تا صدایشان را به گوش جهانیان برسانند.
بویژه اینکه در سابقه عملکرد جمهوری اسلامی، استفاده تبلیغاتی از بازدیدهایی از این دست بسیار وجود دارد که از جمله‌ی آن می‌توان به دعوت از ۴۵ سفیر کشورهای مختلف به زندان اوین در تاریخ ۵ جولای ۲۰۱۷ اشاره کرد که باعث اعتراض گسترده‌ی زندانیان سیاسی علیه بهره‌برداری سیاسی جمهوری اسلامی از آن بازدید نمایشی شده است.

شایان ذکر است، با وجود انتشار گزارش‌های مربوط به بازداشت خودسرانه، شکنجه، تجاوز جنسی و حبس و اعدام معترضان در ایران، مقامات جمهوری اسلامی نه تنها پیوسته از همکاری با کمیته حقیقت‌یاب سازمان ملل خودداری کرده‌اند، بلکه مانع از دسترسی و ملاقات کارشناسان مستقل حقوق بشر با زندانیان سیاسی و خانواده‌های آنها و همچنین اعضای جامعه مدنی در ایران می‌شوند.
بنابراین، به تعویق انداختن این سفر، حداقل به زمانی بعد از انتشار اولین گزارش کمیته حقیقت‌یاب و اعلام نظر شورای حقوق بشر سازمان ملل متحد درباره آن، ضروری است.

Postpone U.N. Official's Visit to Tehran

As signatories of this letter, we request Ms. Nada al-Nashif, U.N. Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, to postpone her trip to Iran, scheduled for February 3, 2024, until the publication of the U.N. Fact-Finding Mission’s first report. We believe that carrying out this trip before the publication of the Committee’s first report on the crimes of the Islamic Republic during the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement, can jeopardize the position and aims of the FFMI. The Islamic Republic of Iran is preparing to host the U.N. official while carrying out the execution of six more youths in recent days. Going ahead with this trip at this time will cause irreparable blows to the expansive civil movement among Iranians and bring despair to imprisoned activists and justice-seeking families, who despite decades of state oppression, have been trying to make their voice heard by the world. The Islamic Republic has a history of using such visits for its own propaganda purposes. One example is the visit by 45 ambassadors from different countries to Evin Prison on July 5, 2017, which triggered widespread condemnation by political prisoners against the Islamic Republic’s exploitation of that superficial visit.  Despite the publication of reports on arbitrary detentions, torture, sexual assaults, and imprisonment and execution of protesters in Iran, the authorities of the Islamic Republic have not only continuously refused to cooperate with the U.N. Fact-Finding Mission, but also prevented the access and meetings of independent human rights experts with political prisoners and their families, as well as members of civil society in Iran. Therefore, it is necessary to postpone the U.N. official’s trip at least until the publication of the U.N. Fact-Finding Mission’s first report and the announcement of the U.N. Human Rights Council’s opinion of it.
