Postpone the Aug 24 Public Comment Meeting

The Issue

Residents of the Town Creek neighborhood and the Mill Street Historical District will be impacted by a 10 foot wide concrete "trail" (it is more like a paved road) that the City intends to build along the Dry Comal Creek, eventually from Landa Park southwest to the New Braunfels Little League Ball Fields.  Phase One of this project is a segment along the creek between Landa Street to the northeast and Walnut Street to the southwest.

While the trail has some real advantages for nearby residents, it comes with unanswered concerns about aesthetics, maintenance and trash pickup, neighborhood parking, impacts on wildlife and nature, crime and safety, and our neighborhood potentially being used as a free parking lot for Wurstfest revelers and for summertime toobers.

Without additional advance notice given to community leaders, the City has scheduled a public comment meeting for August 24th, with the minimum two weeks notice.

Given that this proposed meeting date has been both called and scheduled during August, when many New Braunfelsers are out of town vacationing in cooler climes, and that the date was sprung on us with the legally minimum amount of advance notice, we believe this meeting should be rescheduled for a date comfortably after Labor Day, when more affected citizens can be made aware and make plans to attend.

Please ignore the change.org request for any amount of money. That’s for the website, not us. We don’t need your $7.
