Shri A B Venkateswara Rao, DGP was suspended by Govt of AP (GoAP), which was contested by him (ABV) in various fora including Supreme Court.

Supreme Court ordered GoAP to reinstate. GoAP immediately after reinstating suspended again, which was contested by ABV in Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), who dismissed the suspension orders of GoAP and ordered to reinstate ABV. 

GoAP instead of reinstating him, appealed in High Court, who upheld the CAT’s order.

It is understood that Shri ABV is due to retire tomorrow and therefore  Election Commission may get Shri ABV reinstated and allow him to retire in true spirit of Police Service.
It may also be considered to accord extension of his service atleast till Model Code of Conduct is in place.
