In Kenya post transplant medication is very expensive and prohibitive. Post transplant patients suffer high cost of life-long medication, lab tests and regular hospital visits. The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) does not cover post organ transplant medication or offer subsidies. Without these medications, patients may suffer acute rejection, loss of the transplanted organ and possibly death.

A reduction in cost of medication provided for through the cover would make the drugs more accessible and affordable.

This petition demands:

1. Provision for the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to cover post transplant medication for all patients
2. Provision  of medication subsidy by the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF)  for post transplant medication for all patients
3. Amendment of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) Act by the Parliamentary Health Committee to provide for subsidies for post transplant medication cover
